Joe Kennedy at Friendly Sons? Well not yet

Just heard from U.S. Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy III’s spokeswoman, who says he hasn’t yet accepted Rep. Matt Cartwright’s invitation to attend the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Lackawanna County annual dinner.
“The congressman is very honored by the invitation and our office is working to see if he’s able to make it,” Kennedy spokeswoman Emily Kaufman said.
Mr. Cartwright told me yesterday his invitation was accepted, but apparently he might have jumped a little early.
UPDATE: Just talked to Mr. Cartwright, who said he and Mr. Kennedy were under the impression that the dinner was on a Monday, a day they can afford to be away from the House because votes taken that day are non-controversial. Instead, they realized St. Patrick’s Day, the day the dinner usually happens, falls on a Tuesday this year. Tuesdays are the days really important House votes take place and neither he nor Mr. Kennedy could afford to be away that day, Mr. Cartwright said.
So the discussion now is possibly moving the dinner to March 16, the Monday, which might allow for their attenance, Mr. Cartwright said.
“The bottom line is right now, it’s up in the air” whether Mr. Kennedy will be there, he said.
